Klaus Rennert
Klaus Rennert was born in Berlin on 24 September 1955. He began his career as a judge at the Offenburg Regional Court in 1984 and moved to the administrative jurisdiction at the Karlsruhe Administrative Court in 1985. In 1994, he was appointed judge at the Baden-Württemberg Higher Administrative Court. Following his appointment as judge at the Federal Administrative Court in 2003, he became its Vice President in 2012. From 2014 to 2021, he was President of the Federal Administrative Court.

Marion Eckertz-Höfer
Marion Eckertz-Höfer was born in Oldenburg on 23 November 1948. She studied law and political economics. In 1977, she started working for the judicial service of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. From 1983 to 1988, she worked as a research associate at the Federal Constitutional Court. Then she transferred to the newly established Ministry for Women of the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. From 1991 to 1993, she played a part in the Constitution Committee of the Bundesrat for the reform of the Constitution. In 1993, she started working as a judge at the Federal Administrative Court and became its vice president in the year 2002. In 2007, she was appointed the first female president of the Federal Administrative Court.

Eckart Hien was born in Munich on 13 May 1942. He finished his law studies in 1970. First, he worked in different administrative functions in the Free State of Bavaria. In 1980, he became a judge at the Bavarian Higher Administrative Court. In 1986, he became a judge at the Federal Administrative Court and became its vice president in the year 2000. From 2002 to 2007, he held the office of the president of the Federal Administrative Court.

Everhardt Franßen
Everhardt Franßen was born in Essen on 1 October 1937. After having completed his legal training, he worked as a judge at the Administrative Court in Münster. He took his doctoral law degree, worked as a research associate for a parliamentary group in the Bundestag and the administration of the City of Essen. In 1977, he became a judge at the Federal Administrative Court. In 1987, he was elected judge at the Federal Constitutional Court. In 1991, he returned to the Federal Administrative Court as its president. There, he reached the pensionable age in 2002.

Horst Sendler
Horst Sendler was born in Kamenz on 17 June 1925. In 1956, the Free University of Berlin conferred a doctorate in law to him. He pursued the administrative career in the Senate Administration of Internal Affairs of the federal state of Berlin. In 1966, he started working as a judge at the Federal Administrative Court. In 1976, he became vice president, and in 1980, president of the Federal Administrative Court. In 1991, he resigned from office.

Walther Fürst was born in Tauberbischofsheim on 10 February 1912. He finished his legal studies and received a doctorate in law. In 1938, he joined the municipal service of the Republic of Baden. In 1947, he became higher executive officer at the administrative district office of Emmendingen, and in 1950, Director of the Administrative Court of Freiburg. In 1952, he was elected judge at the Interim State Constitutional Court (vorläufiger Staatsgerichtshof) for the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. Shortly after that, he was one of the first judges at the Federal Administrative Court. In 1971, he was appointed vice president. Then he was appointed president of the Federal Administrative Court in 1976.

Wolfgang Zeidler
Wolfgang Zeidler was born in Hamburg on 2 September 1924. At the age of 21, he started to study at Hamburg University. After his exam, he became a judge at the Regional Court (Landgericht) and at the Administrative Court of Hamburg. He also worked for the administration of Hamburg. After his secondment as a research associate, he was the youngest judge at the Federal Constitutional Court from 1967 onwards. He became president of the Federal Administrative Court three years later. In 1975, he returned to the Federal Constitutional Court as its vice president, and was president from 1983 to 1987.

Fritz Werner was born in Stettin on 4 May 1906. He studied law and was conferred a legal doctorate in 1934. In 1939, he was appointed judge at the local court (Amtsgericht). In 1949, he was appointed judge at the Regional Court in Kassel and shortly afterwards judge at the Higher Administrative Court for the federal states of Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. He assumed the office of vice president there in 1955. Three years later, he became president of the Federal Administrative Court and remained president until the end of his life.

Hans Egidi was born in Crossen/Oder on 2 June 1890. At the age of 18, he commenced his legal studies, and later worked for the Imperial Administration (Reichsverwaltung). From 1949 onwards, he was in charge of the establishment of the security agencies as head of department at the Federal Ministry of the Interior. In 1955, Hans Egidi was appointed president of the Federal Administrative Court. In 1958, he reached the pensionable age for the function.

Ludwig Frege was born in Potsdam on 28 August 1884. After taking his A-levels in 1903, he embarked on his career in law. He studied law, governance and public policy, was conferred a legal doctorate, and joined the Prussian civil service in 1912. At the end of World War II, he became president of the District Administrative Court (Bezirksverwaltungsgericht) of Berlin from 1945 onwards. Six years later, he became the first president of the Administrative Court of Berlin. In March 1953, Ludwig Frege was appointed the first president of the newly created Federal Administrative Court.
